Dear Friends and Supporters of the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra,
With great frustration, deep disappointment, and a heavy heart, the Board of Directors of the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra Association has come to the difficult decision to postpone and/or cancel the remainder of the 2009-10 season. This decision is effective immediately.
To our loyal supporters and sponsors, we thank you for your generosity. We do need you and look forward to your continued support. The current economy has deeply affected the Orchestra. In times like these, the Arts are always the first to feel the cuts in funding and contributions. Likewise, as times get better, the Arts are the last to enjoy prosperity. We are depending on you, our patrons, more than ever now.
Even if the PSOA were to sell out every concert, ticket revenues only cover about 40% of our annual budget - which includes our outreach work with education and youth, as well as our free community holiday concerts. It is only through the support of our local foundations, corporate sponsors and from hundreds of individual donors like you that we are able to keep the spirit of the music alive.
