Kwan Yi

Pianist Kwan Yi performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Nichols Hall in Chicago, Gusman Hall in Miami and Stude Hall in Houston. On July 8, 2007, Mr. Yi made a debut with the Houston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Hans Graf performing Liszt Piano Concerto No. 2 in Jones Hall. As an active chamber musician, he collaborated with St. Petersburg Quartet and Itzhak Perlman. His performances have been broadcast by WHYY and KHUF. His future engagements include recitals in Louvre Auditorium in Paris and concerto performances in Seongnam Art Center in Korea.

 

Mr. Yi received the National Foundation in the Advancement in the ARTS Award, the ASCAP Foundation’s Ira Gershwin Award for Outstanding Musicianship, and the Grand prize of 2007 Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition.

 

Mr. Yi is currently studying with Ignat Solzhenitsyn at the Curtis Institute of Music where he holds Lenter H. Grundy Fellowship. He graduated from the Juilliard School Pre-College where he studied with Frank Levy. Additionally, he worked with Gary Graffman, and Fou T’song.
