Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5 Highlights Opening of PSO 2007-2008 Season
The Pottstown Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Rosalind Erwin open their 2007-2008 season on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at 8pm at The Hill School Center for the Arts, Beech & Sheridan Streets, Pottstown, PA. Titled “Music for Lovers”, this concert is a lush tour de force of Romantic period music composed by two entirely different but equally important composers from the 19th century. A Pre-Concert Lecture with Kile Smith, curator of the Fleisher Collection of Music, Philadelphia Free Library, will take place at 7:15pm. This concert is being generously funded in part by Harleysville National Bank and supported by Jacob’s Music.
The concert will open with Robert Schumann’s virtuosic Piano Concerto in a minor, performed by award winning Korean pianist Kwan Yi, and will conclude Peter Tchaikovsky’s monumental and glorious Symphony No. 5 in e minor, Op. 64.
